It's that time again! One of the things I enjoy most about attending a school for artists, writers, and fashion enthusiasts, is witnessing, firsthand, how the student's express their personalities through the clothes they choose to wear. From high-end labels to affordable brands, personal style is achievable so long as one stays true to their core, dare to be unique, and are unafraid to boldly proclaim themselves... in style.
Meet our two latest candidates.

Name: “Tanya” Tanyatorn Tanyavudh
Nationality: Chinese, Thai, & Vietnamese
Age: 25 years old
Major: Fashion Merchandising MFA
Where I Found Her: In the Christian Dior Café.
Top: Bought in Korea (Unknown brand/No Label)
Pants: Brandy Melville
Shoes: Nicholas Kirkwood
Purse: Loeffler Randall
Neck Scarf: “I hand-made this myself!”
Key Points: “I wear what looks good on me. My style really depends on my mood that day. My advice is to wear something that complements your body and looks.”
My Review
Tanya is the perfect example of less is more. Her ensemble is simple, but it is the fit of the clothing and the details in the accessories that make this entire look effortlessly chic. From the metallic silver of her shoes, to the Parisian-esque stripes of her scarf, to the messy bun of rose pink locks atop her head; the small details of color give an added layer of playfulness to her outfit.

Name: Shamaine Dixon
Nationality: Black/African-America
Age: 22 years old
Major: Fashion Product Development MFA
Where I Found Her: At the Christian Dior Café.
Top, Jacket, Pants: “All of this is from Forever 21, except the shoes!”
Shoes: Timberland
Key points: “I don’t have fashion icons I follow. I say dress as you feel. I wouldn’t describe it as a personal style, I would describe [me] more as a character. You see those USA commercials with those characters, I’m like that… but all of them.”
My Review
Pastel, grunge, fun, and unique. These are just a few of the adjectives that to come to mind when looking at Shamaine’s outfit. The pastel pink of her coat is a deviation from the traditional jewel tones of fall fashion – burgundies, evergreens, and burnt oranges – and compliments the extraordinary ombre of lavender and teal in her hair. The color is usually synonymous with “femininity,” but paired with distressed jeans and boots, and it escalates it from girl to a worldly woman with a little edge.
Look forward to next week's selections!
